Muaythai Journal Episode 2: Sam A Gaiyanghaadao

October 3, 2012 by Melissa Ray

The second installment of John Wolcott’s Muaythai Journal series is out! For this episode the subject is Sam A Gaiyanghaadao—winner of the 2011 Sports Writers’ Fighter of the Year Award and current 122lb Thailand and Lumpini champion. In the documentary Sam A talks about what drives him, his beginnings in Muay Thai, and his feelings on his achievements. Sam A’s trainer at Petchyindee Academy Tawiwat Sutti (or Petch Chor Vigo as he is more famously known) also passes commentary on Sam A’s discipline and preparation for fights. In the final minutes of the episode we are treated to Sam A on pads and get the opportunity to watch that infamous left kick in action.

I had the pleasure of seeing John at work when he came to film Neungthep, Rungubon and Bpagaipetch at Eminent Air. Self-funded, John has shown incredible dedication and hard work to produce this documentary series and his love for Muay Thai is clear in every installment.
